General Information

'Faravel' is situated in a particularly scenic area of Shetland approximately 30 miles west of Lerwick. The house faces north and looks over towards a voe where seals can regularly be seen in some numbers and also the occasional otter.

This area of the Sandness coast opposite the island of Papa Stour, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). From May to September a pontoon is erected on the beach by the voe for the purposes of allowing people to moor boats although this is on a purely unofficial basis.

Sandness itself has its own primary school with further amenities being available at Walls, approximately 8 miles to the south, where there is a local shop / post office with fuel, a swimming pool for private hire, doctor's surgery and another primary school. There is another local shop at Bixter, and the area's Junior High School and the West Mainland Leisure Centre / Swimming Pool can be found at Aith about 16 miles back towards Lerwick.

The house was completed in 2008 and is fully double glazed with under-floor central heating throughout supplied by a 'Heatrae Sadia Amptec' electric boiler in a cupboard off the hall which also houses the 'Megaflo' water tank. A solid-fuel stove in the living room provides a cosy additional heat source.

The sale will include all fixed floor coverings, the blinds and light fittings.



The double glazed front door opens to a vestibule with a handy cloak cupboard off also housing the electric meter etc., a tiled floor and inner door to the hall.


The tiled floor in the vestibule extends into the hall which has two built-in cupboards, one housing the boiler and water tank, the other a shelved linen cupboard. Drive almost to the end of the road (approximately 1.3 miles), passing a white house with a telephone box outside, and along the edge of a small loch to the right. The house is situated just after the loch just over the brow of a hill on the left hand side of the road.
