General Information

'Solveig' is situated just outside the centre of the village of Aith on the east side of Aith Voe.

The village which is home to the most northerly Lifeboat Station in Britain, has a range of amenities which are within walking distance of the house and include a Junior High School (primary & secondary pupils up to year 4), Community Co-op shop & post office, plus a superb leisure centre which has a swimming pool, games hall, squash court, fitness & health suite. There is also a public hall, marina & garage, and a bus route runs to Lerwick daily.

Additional amenities are available at Bixter about 3 miles south of Aith where there is another local shop & fuel on the road to Lerwick, plus a vet, another garage & health centre. There is another local shop in the area at Voe to the north.

The house was completed in 2007 of 'Scandinavian' style timber frame / timber clad construction with a concrete tiled roof. Windows are double glazed and electric storage / panel heating is provided throughout supplemented by under-floor heating to the vestibule and both bathrooms, and a cosy solid-fuel stove in the sittingroom.

Matching laminate flooring is laid throughout all the main rooms except for the bathrooms, utility room and vestibule which have a tiled floor.

Access to the house is via a ramp leading to a covered porch area with external light and double glazed front door opening to a vestibule with space for coats etc., fitted meter cupboard, tiled floor with under-floor heating and inner door to the hall.

The road from Aith continues past the house up to Voe to the north, thus Brae / Sullom Voe are within easy reach.
