There is a primary school at Urafirth on the road back towards Lerwick, and additional amenities at Ollaberry (another shop & school), and also Brae, the main population centre for the North Mainland area, where there is a high school, swimming pool & leisure centre, another health centre, Co-op mini supermarket, garage services and various social & recreational activities.
The property is of mass concrete construction below a man-made 'Eco Slate' tiled roof. Windows are double glazed and heating is provided by a wood-burning stove in the living room.
