Sittingroom, dining kitchen, four bedrooms, shower room, hall & porch. Walk-in loft space.
Four bedroom, detached property situated in small hamlet on the east side of the island of Whalsay, within easy reach of a wide range of amenities. The property has a mainly grassed garden area and enjoys a fine view over the Loch of Huxter to the sea.
In addition to four bedrooms, the double glazed accommodation also includes a sittingroom, dining kitchen & shower room. A 31’ walk-in attic provides extensive storage space or could perhaps provide space for a 2nd shower room, subject to consents.
Improvements in recent times include a new kitchen, installation of central heating supplied by a multi-fuel stove in the sittingroom, and refurbishment of the shower room.
Whalsay is connected to mainland Shetland by a regular ro-ro ferry service which runs from the ferry terminal about 2 miles from the house to Laxo / Vidlin. The island has an excellent range of amenities including a couple of shops, school, leisure centre & swimming pool, health centre, and even an 18 hole golf course.
‘Westhaven’ is situated in the small hamlet of Huxter overlooking the Loch of Huxter at the south east corner of the island of Whalsay, just under two miles from the ferry terminal at Symbister, the main settlement on the island and the location of all the main amenities.
Situated off the east coast of mainland Shetland, Whalsay, which measures around 5 miles long by 2 miles wide and has a population of around 1,000, is often referred to as ‘the Bonnie Isle’. The island has some magnificent scenery and the Ward of Clett, the highest point provides superb views of the east coast of Shetland. A 30 minute ro-ro ferry service which runs throughout the day to Laxo / Vidlin, about 20 miles from Lerwick, links the island with mainland Shetland.
Although offering a quieter outer isles location, the island has an excellent range of amenities which are centered around Symbister and include a school, two general stores and a post office, a doctor’s surgery & care centre. There are excellent sporting facilities including a superb leisure centre with heated swimming pool, games hall, fitness suite, squash court & all weather sports field, and Skaw at the north end of the island is home to Britain’s most northerly 18 hole golf course.
Symbister also has a marina and boating club and is home to several of Shetland’s biggest fishing boats.

Thanks again for your brilliant service with both my property sales over the past years. Your experience in Shetland is much noted with local people.
Selling my house whilst living in Edinburgh was a daunting prospect but I should not have worried. The communications between both parties was easy and the sale of my property went through without any hitches.
