Location
On the leaving the ferry, drive past the shop and
turn first left to Burravoe. Continue for a short
distance to the group of three timber clad houses on
the left hand side of the road approximately 300
yards from the shore. No.2 is the middle house.
Local Amenities
The property is situated within easy walking
distance of the well stocked shop and post office at
Ulsta and the ferry. Opposite the shop is a small
marina, slip & beach.
Yell is the largest of the North Isles and has a
population of around 1,000. The main amenities on
the island are situated at Mid Yell (approx. 11
miles), where there is further shopping, a Junior
High School, Leisure Centre & Swimming Pool, Health
Centre & Care Centre. There is also a local primary
school at Burravoe.
Yell is connected to mainland Shetland by a
regular ro-ro ferry service (crossing time 15-20
minutes) which runs throughout the day (day time ½
hourly) from Ulsta to Toft, about 10 minutes from
Brae and Sullom Voe.
In addition to the existing daily air links from
Shetland to mainland Scotland, and the ferry link to
Aberdeen, Shetland is now linked by a direct flight
(summer service) to London Stansted, flight time 1½
hours.
