Location

‘Wastower’ is situated by the Atlaness houses off the loop road that runs round the centre of Hamnavoe. Drive into the village, passing the school on the left. As the road starts to go down towards the pier, turn right into ‘The Glen’. Follow the road past the turning to ‘Glenburn Road’ on the right, and continue around to the left to the next turning right into ‘Atlaness’. Turn into Atlaness and left again at the bottom, continuing to the end of the road. ‘Wastower’ is situated at the end of the road on the left hand side just past the last Atlaness house.

Local Amenities

Hamnavoe is situated on the island of Burra on the west coast of Shetland, and is connected to mainland Shetland by two fixed bridges via the neighbouring island of Trondra. Although Scalloway is just over 5 miles away and Lerwick just 10 miles away, there is a local shop & post office, a primary school, and a marina down by the pier, all of which are within walking distance. There is also a village hall and a regular bus service to Scalloway / Lerwick. Further amenities at Scalloway include the Junior High School, swimming pool, several local shops, the harbour area and North Atlantic Fisheries College.
